Siniguro kahapon ng Commission on Higher Education (CHED) na handa itong ipasara ang pinakamalaking nursing review center sa bansa na R. A. Gapuz Review Center (RAGRC) dahil na rin sa pagtanggi ng huli na sumunod sa alituntunin na kailangan muna ang nursing school bago ito muling maisyuhan ng permit na makapag-operate sa susunod na taon.

Kasunod nito ay nagbanta ang CHED na kahalintulad na aksyon ang kasasapitan ng iba pang private review center kung mabibigo itong sumunod sa requirement na bago makapag-operate ng review center ay dapat mayroong nursing school na katuwang ito.

Ayon kay CHED Chairman Carlito Puno sa susunod na taon ay nakatakda nang ipaimplimenta ng ahensya ang "implementing rules and regulations" (IRR) para sa pagre-regulate ng mga review centers at mangangahulugan ito na ang lahat ng review center ay kailangan na mag-apply ng bagong permit base sa bagong polisiya ng ahensya.

Isa sa nakatakdang ipatupad ng CHED ay ang pagkakaroon muna ng nursing school bago makapag-operate ng nursing review center, sa ganitong paraan ay kung walang makukuhang nursing school ang isang review center ay mapipilitan na ipasara ito.

Isa sa tinukoy ni Puno na review centers na maaaring maipasara ang RAGRC dahil na rin sa wala itong nursing school.

Matatandaan na noong September 8, 2006 ay nilagdaan ni Pangulong Gloria Macapagal Arroyo ang Executive Order No. 566, "Directing the Commission on Higher Education to Regulate the Establishment and Operation of Review Centers and Similar Entities".

Sa ilalim ng E.O. 566 ay binibigyan ng kapangyarihan ang CHED na rebyuhin ang performance ng mga review centers kung saan isusumite ang report sa Office of the President.

Ang nasabing EO ay nabuo matapos na rin matukoy sa imbestigasyon sa kontrobersiyal na leakage sa June 2006 nursing exam na ilang review center ang sangkot sa leakage, dahilan sa walang nagre-regulate sa nasabing mga centers ay inatas ito sa CHED. (Edwin Balasa)

If the government is serious with this, then this is a good start of erasing the bad image of nursing exam happened last June '06 NLE. R.A. GAPUZ, etc. should pay the price it had cause damage to the examinees, its parents and the entire nursing profession.

I believe that this is a good action by the CHED. Review centers must be regulated just like the schools since they are part of inculcating knowledge to the students. They should be and must be a part of the institution. Both schools and review centers could benefit from this since they are doing their very best to get a higher performance rating in the NLE...
