Additional 1,184 nursing exam passers listed

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced yesterday that, as per decision of the Court of Appeals, an additional 1,184 examinees passed the Nurse Licensure Examination given by the Board of Nursing in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legazpi, Lucena, Tacloban, Tuguegarao, and Zamboanga last June.

The results of examination with respect to two examinees were withheld pending final determination of their liabilities under the rules and regulations governing licensure examinations.

Meanwhile, thousands of new nurses heaved a sigh of relief and cheered one another after completing their oath in ceremonies at the PRC office in Manila yesterday, a day after the Court of Appeals issued a decision allowing the board passers to take their pledge as nurses.

The Alliance of New Nurses (ANN) said about 15,000 board passers took their oath. Some 17,000 who also passed the board had already taken their oath last Aug.18.

"Finally, we can move on," said Gringo San Diego, the exams’ topnotcher, who attended the oath-taking of the third batch of successful examinees at 9:30 a.m.

San Diego led the recitation of the "Nightingale Pledge," the nursing creed in honor of Florence Nightingale, founder of the nursing profession.
