Facts and Opinions
OPINION: A retake is necessary in order to help restore the integrity of the nursing profession and erase the "stigma"...
FACT: If a certain group of people don't want to erase the stigma in their minds, the stigma still persists... even 5 or more retakes already. It's psychological in nature.
OPINION: Because of the "re-computation" of grades, competency could no longer be measured. In other words, the measurement instrument (NLE test questions), has lost its reliability in measuring competency.
FACT: Re-computations were done by the PRC, first and foremost, in order to lessen if not totally eradicate the erroneous power of the leakage in measuring competency. If there was no recomputation, we would have given the leaked questions enough power in order to make the results more erroneous, esp in test V. PRC used averaging and the
concept that the probability of predicting the score of Test V, had there been no leakage, based on the weighted scores of other tests would be statistically acceptable, plus 10 items which were not leaked. It's just like saying that the probability of a student to have high grades in nursing subjects would be high if his/her grade in the Nursing Aptitude Test (NAT) is also high. "Even if the questions
in NAT are not purely nursing concepts in the first place". By this, we can say that the NAT was designed to have a statistical power of prediction. In Test III, they assigned equal points to every item, which is OK since if there was no leakage, the items would still have equal points.
OPINION: We, the June 2006 Batch, will be blacklisted from entering other countries.
FACT: No other countries have formally blacklisted us. Why did I say "other" countries? Because one country has already blacklisted us... our own Philippines. ..through certain groups of individuals who won't erase the stigma in their minds... Hindi bah natin napansin? Sa TV, the only ones entertaining the notion na ma-bablacklist tayo are Filipinos themselves. Lahat na nagsalita sa TV and nagsabi na mabablacklist tayo... Filipinos lahat! not one American! not one African! not one European!
OPINION: "This is just an isolated incident."
FACT: We can never know if this is in fact an ISOLATED incident. As Filipinos, we have a high probability of engaging in cheating (although this is just my opinion), even in elections, di bah? Ngayon lang bah nagkaroon ng leakage? No one can answer that. So dahil no one can answer... is it prudent to say na walang leakage na naganap in the previous years? O baka hindi lang na sensationalized? O baka walang
may nakaalam, only the ones who benefited from the leakage? Saying "This is just an isolated incident" is just saving the TOTAL INTEGRITY of our licensure examinations. Para wala ng big issue, di bah? Ma-contain lang sa June 2006 Batch and become the sacrificial lambs.
So if integrity lang ang pag-uusapan. .. Does PRC have the integrity? Some say... WALA! Here is now my question... WHEN did the PRC lose its integrity? This June 2006 lang bah? As in isolated lang talaga sa Batch namin?
SO, dahil we can't determine WHEN PRC lost its integrity (kuno), is it safe to say that all those who came out from the system of PRC has questionnable competence? Because it is just like swimming in Pasig River, right?
THE BIG QUESTION: WHEN DID PRC LOSE ITS INTEGRITY? Ngayon lang bah?
