school tie-up or close down
THE Commission on Higher Education (CHED) is giving review centers one year to enter into a tie-up agreement with a colleges, university, or professional association or face closure.
CHED Chairman Carlito Puno issued a memorandum, which provides that only colleges and universities and professional associations recognized by the Professional Regulation Commission can operate a review center.
The memorandum is based on Executive Order 566 issued by President Arroyo following the leakage in the June 2006 nursing licensure examination.
Under the new rules, review centers like R.A. Gapuz Review Center, which has been implicated in the leakage, can either tie-up with the learning institutions or convert themselves into a school or college offering courses covered by the review subject.
CHED requires that new review centers should have a reviewer-to-student ratio of 1:40.
