DoJ panel formed to probe complaint vs review centers

THE DEPARTMENT of Justice (DoJ) has created a panel to conduct a preliminary investigation on the criminal complaint filed by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) against 17 officials of three nursing review centers allegedly involved in a leakage during the June licensure exam, Secretary Raul Gonzalez said.
Heading the panel is Senior State Prosecutor Roseann Balauag. Her members include State Prosecutors Lamberto Pabros and Juan Pedro Naverra and Prosecuting Attorneys Rhodora Salazar and Richie Seranilla, Gonzalez said.
Copies of the complaint have been forwarded to the panel, Gonzalez said.
Gonzalez said the panel would set the date for the preliminary investigation where those facing the complaint for violation of Republic Act 8981 or the Act Modernizing the Professional Regulation would be asked to submit their counter affidavits.
Respondents include Ricarte and Evangeline Gapuz, Ma. Elena Alterejos, Elizabeth Iciano and Eleanor Artemia Gapuz from R.A. Gapuz Review Center; George Cordero, Adela and Jerry Cordero, Corazon Sabado, MacJohn Fabian, Lolita Barlahan, and Eugenia Alcantara from Inress Review Center; and Gerald Andamo, Attorney Glenn Luansing, Mike Jimenes, Jerome Balisnomo, and Freddie Valdez from Pentagon Review Center.
NBI Anti-Fraud and Computer Crimes Division chief Elfren Meneses said they have over 20 witnesses, which include students and photocopiers.
Other bases for their complaint include a powerpoint presentation, compact discs containing a soft copy of the alleged leakage and typewritten and handwritten manuscripts of the examine
