10 - GMA okays publication of nursing exam results to weed out fly-by night schools
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo gave the go-signal Tuesday to the publication of the passing percentage in the licensure examinations over the last three years of graduates of nursing institutions nationwide to serve as guide to students in their choice of schools to enroll in.
The President approved the recommendation of Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Chairman Carlito Puno in the wake of the cheating scandal that tainted the nursing board examinations last June.

In his regular media briefing, Press Secretary and Presidential Spokesman Ignacio R. Bunye said Puno made the recommendation during the two-hour meeting of the Cabinet this morning in Malacanang.
"We found out during the presentation of Chair Puno that some schools have almost zero passing average and that is something that is very worrisome," he added.
Approved for publication were the results of the licensure examinations of nursing schools throughout the country in the last three years.
Bunye said the recourse to the publication of the performance of the nursing schools in the licensure examinations was recommended pending the resolution of the temporary restraining order (TRO) on the closure of substandard schools.
He said the publication of the ratings of graduates of nursing schools in the board examinations will stop the proliferation of fly-by-night nursing institutions.
"This will serve as a guide to prospective enrollees as to where they should enroll," Bunye said. (PNA)

Question: What has CHED's Dr. Carlito Puno done about the supposed substandard nursing schools, eh kung ilang taon na palang masama ang performance nila?
In fact, me recommendation sa kanya na ipasara iyon, anong ginawa niya?

nursing is not only on the theoretical aspect it is more on the job or ung tinatawag n bed side caring.
