June NLE passers may not get visas

The Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS International) has issued a statement about the eligibility of Filipino nurses who passed the June 2006 NLE, which could mean their VisaScreen applications will be denied.
The CGFNS statement says: “Any VisaScreen® applications that CGFNS receives from June 2006 passers will be accepted but deferred for a final decision until this assessment process is complete. If the assessment concludes that the license is not comparable, the VisaScreen® application from a June 2006 passer will be denied.”
The assessment process will determine if the Professional Regulation Commission exam that the June 2006 examinees passed is “comparable” to that of an American licensure exam.
If found to be not “comparable”—for instance, because the grades were manipulated by the PRC or the test scores for some subjects such as the leakage-tainted Tests 3 and 5 were given recomputed values—then the Filipino nurse of batch June 2006 NLE will not be given a VisaScreen certification.
The full statement reads:
“The Board of Trustees of the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS International) met on October 22-23, 2006. They considered whether Philippine nurses who have passed the Philippine Professional Regulation Commission’s June 2006 nursing licensing exam are eligible for VisaScreen® Certification.
“The Board directed its staff and counsel to review and assess whether the licensure process followed in light of the challenged results of the leakage-tainted June 2006 exam is ‘comparable’ with that required for nurses licensed in America, as required by US law. The CGFNS will then make a final determination of whether passers of the June 2006 exam are eligible for VisaScreen® certification. The CGFNS expects to reach a final decision on the question of comparability in the near future.”
This means the CGFNS will now study the whole process by which the PRC and the Court of Appeals decided on who has become a properly qualified licensed nurse among the June 2006 examinees.
This will affect the future of the June 2006 nursing board exam passers who wish to work in the United States. They need the VisaScreen to get a visa from the US Embassy.
Even if—without the CGFNS VisaScreen certificate—they get to enter the USA and work there as a nurse and finally want to apply for an immigrant visa, they will need to show their VisaScreen certificate.
This is because the CGFNS is the only organization authorized by the US government’s Department of Homerland Security to certify foreign-born nurses and other health-care workers.
In the discussions about the nursing exam fiasco, some of the antiretake nurses erroneously told The Times they did not need the CGFNS if they already passed the NXLEX exam.
They said many American states’s hospital systems do not require CGFNS certificates and VisaScreen. That is not true in most cases, because even if they do get a US job they would need the CGFNS VisaScreen certificate when dealing with US Immigration upon arrival in America or when they wish to change their status into green-card holders.

Bakit hanggang ngayon hindi pa niya nadala ang NCLEX dito eh 6-8 years na pala nya nilalakad ito, simply because mahina siya, at nong wala na siyang maisip, napagdiskitahan ang mga board passers, sumakay na lang siya sa agos, damn this person, me araw ka rin Mr. Ang

hey listen to yourself, do you think mr. ang is so influencial that he can just order the nclex and cgsnf official to do what he want...come on...the reason why we want to go to american is because they are a develop and rich country...and do you think they became a powerful country because of substandard mentality or ok lang may leakage attitude, dahil we did not benefit from the leakage....we can not force other country to follow our mentality of having substandard on everything...

i dont understand the people that hates dante ang. he just want to help us batch 2006 to prove to the world that we are worthy of our license. to tell you the truth, the one that really putting us down is the prc. the prc is just thinking the present situation. they dont think about our future. tutal, they dont even care about us. the prc sed that they are happy about the ca resolution. the vp of ann sed that the prc are the heroes. but at the end of the day we are the loser. think fellow passer, if theres no retake, this will happen. they will not trust their lives to us. yeah, will get our license, our family will be proud of us... but the consequence of being question of our integrity is like not passing the exam. if theres a retake, all will be solve. no doubts, no everything... you want to prove urself that you are worthy of your license, go ahead, dante ang is giving us the chance to prove ourself in papers. not by mouth.

Ang hindi ko maisip bakit ipipilit ng mga gusto mag retake na walang tatanggap sa mga June NLE passers dahil lang sa exam na yan. Kung ako employer and i have to choose between a June NLE passer who have a good scholastic records against another passer from another period pero pasang awa naman ang mga grades, doon na ako sa may magandang scholastic records dahil yan naman dapat ang batayan and not just the NLE na puro naman opinionated ang mga tanong kahit nung mga previous exams pa, di ba? SA makatuwid ang daming paraan mga kapatid to discern who is competent or not. kung maghire ka ba ng katulong bibigyan mo lang ng exam at kung pumasa hire na kaagad? siyempre papalinisin mo yan, papalabahin mo yan and when you're satisfied then you hire him. Hindi lang exam mga 'tol ang dapat na batayan to hire a good competent nurse, it's just one of the requirement. get's nyo?

Let's not be naive & let's not fight about this.
It's also true that a RETAKE can never take away the stigma, only time can do that.
But more true is that if we agree to a REATKE, justice have been compromised & it will be a precedent for the goverment & the powerful to step on the rights of the individual. (look at the bigger picture: most people thought that the profession's integrity is the big picture. Wrong, the big picture would be all of us, our own personal rights. Gets nyo ba how we can be manipulated kung meron na precedent?)
It's true that 7-8 years already since we inveited NCLEX to conduct exams here.
It's also true na hindi naman si Dante Ang yun 8 years na yun, bago lang siya.
It's also true that Dante Ang lies alot & makes to much noise for CGFNS & NCLEX to notice & make comments.
The truth about NCLEX denial for hosting it here are many, & it includes both national security & examination security. That's where Mr. Ang lies alot. He makes it appear that if we go for a retake, NCLEX will automaitcally approve our country as a testing site. He also make it appear that this nursing issue was the only reason that made NCLEX deny our petition.
NCLEX & CGFNS made separate statements before that the leakage does not affect them. Now CGFNS seems to try & scare the 06/2006 batch. If you can read their statement carefully & can read between the lines, they are not saying NO, but instead saying YES unless your records are frudulent. So, don't worry.
It's also true that most if not all nurses wants to work in the US not just for the salary but the living conditions as well.
I'm here at California right now, the weather today is way much cooler than Baguio, the pollution is nil compared to Manila (but Ca is the most polluted state here in US), I don't sweat while taking a walk or gardening under the sun, We eat what we want & when we want it.
My brother has his own house & drives an ML320 benz. So what? He's just an average employee, re-stacking goods at a wharehouse. In short, kargador lang siya!
Sarap di ba?

how pathetic na they would judge us based soley on "bec we're batch 2006"... hello! they should have at least consider our academic standing (transcript of record & RLE's) as criteria noh!...
CGNS charges $368 for its examination... naku, if they are going to disqualify us sila rin ang mawawalan ng kita...bahala sila... boycot natin cgfns! hehe! :P

Posted by Anonymous | 10:34 AM
