PRC prefers December retake of nursing board
The Professional Regulation Commission on Monday said it prefers a retake on the June nursing board exams to be conducted in December instead of November as originally announced.
PRC chairwoman Leonor Rosero said the PRC has yet to receive a written order from Malacañan on the retake of the nursing board, which was marred by leakage.
Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita earlier said President Arroyo will issue this week an executive order on the retake of the exams.
Ermita said the EO would contain the type of tests, the date of the retake and who should take the exams.
The EO would also explain why Mrs. Arroyo agreed on a retake, he added.
The President earlier said she wants the 42,000 nursing graduates who took the June examinations to retake Tests 3 and 5 of the examinations.
Ermita earlier said the government would shoulder the expenses to be incurred by the commission for the retake. A DZMM report said P52 million has been allocated for the retake.
Rosero said the PRC will consult Solicitor General Eduardo Nachura on Mrs. Arroyo’s decision.
Sen. Ralph Recto on Sunday said examinees who passed the leakage-marred June 2006 Nursing Licensure Examination in the Visayas and Mindanao should not be required to take it again.
Recto also called for the exemption of those who took the examination in the Luzon cities of Legazpi, Tuguegarao and Lucena.
"Why punish them when they were far from the scene of the crime so to speak? Proximity, or the lack of it, rules them out as participants in the cheating," Recto said in a statement.
The June 11and 12 tests were held in the cities of Cebu, Iloilo and Tacloban in the Visayas; and in Cagayan de Oro, Davao and Zamboanga in Mindanao, aside from venues in Luzon.
Recto said the National Bureau of Investigation's probe into the leakage of questions ahead of the examination concluded that the incident was confined only to Manila and Baguio City.
He said Visayas, Mindanao, Southern Tagalog, Bicol and Cagayan Valley examinees of the 500-question board exam passed it "fair and square

excuse me senator recto, what about others from manila and other neighboring provinces who did not benefit from the leakage? ang dami nyo ine-exempt, i-exempt nyo na lahat. no retake! wag naman kayong ganyan, im also an examinee from luzon na di naman nakinabang sa leakage, and its very very very unfair for us to have a retake, u just dont even know how unfair for us na mga taga-luzon na di naman nakinabang sa leakage, y dont u and the government just punish the real culprits? ur cleaning the nursing profession at the expense of the examinees, parusahan niyo ung 2 BON na salarin at wag kami, just want u all to know that not all examinees from luzon are culprits of the cheating scandal!

sa december ang retake? just imagine kung gaano nanaman katagal tau maghihintay, ang dami-daming panahon ang nasayang, wala na tayong paglalagyan, bkit nman ganito ang nangyayari sa atin, im really becoming impatient na, ok na nga para sa akin ang retake dahil yan daw kuno ang makakapaglinis sa nsg profession tapos ngaun paghihintayin pa tayo ng matagal. hay naku buhay nga nman.
