PROACTIVE NURSES

I am not suggesting we do the same here in the Philippines by posting this. I just admire the way nurses came up with this and the importance the American people have for nursing care to consider making the Office of the National Nurse.

Who knows? With the rate our nurses are leaving the Philippines it might not be long before we find ourselves in their shoes.

Anway the article below is a bit late since it was put on the net last year. The American nurses were still working on making a bill then but now it is known as HR 4903 (see http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c109:H.R.4903 ).
For the original proposal see http://nationalnurse3.blogspot.com/2006/10/original-proposal-submitted-to_31.html

The National Nurse will oversee state coordinators who will assemble volunteer nurse teams to provide screening, education and referral services in their communities. The office is necessary to acknowledge the critical role nurses play in hands-on patient care and education.

Martin Luther King, Jr. said, "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter."
