Nursing exam leak is not yet over: school exec

THE leakage involving the June 2006 nursing licensure examination is "not a dead issue yet although the Court of Appeals (CA) already ordered some examinees to retake some sets of the recent test", a nursing school official said.

Grace Lacanaria, dean of the Saint Louis University (SLU) College of Nursing, said the issue might even reach the Supreme Court (SC), adding that even the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) might investigate the manner by which the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) recomputed the scores of the examinees.

The PRC regional office has not officially transmitted a copy of those who would retake the test, although Lacanaria said that four nursing graduates of SLU would retake tests III and V.

"We can't do anything, it's the CA that issued an order," she said.

Lacanaria, who is also the concurrent president of the deans of nursing schools in the region, was the one who accused former Board of Nursing (BON) head George Cordero of bribing her just to stop the filing of a petition before the PRC regarding the alleged massive cheating in the June 11 and 12 examinations.

Review centers, led by the R.A. Gapuz as well as the Inress Revies, which is owned by Cordero, had been implicated as the ones who distributed to their reviewees copies of the leakage. The issue eventually led to the conduct of separate investigations by the Senate committee on civil service and government reorganization and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, likewise, ordered that the PRC be placed under the supervision of the Dole instead of it being a separate department in the executive branch.

The Senate committee as well as the PRC and the CA recommended for a retake while administrative charges have been filed against Virginia Madeja and Anesia Dionisio, members of the BON, for allegedly leaking the test questions.

FROM SUNSTAR

Haay! eto na naman tayo, balik na naman sa dati, Dean Lacanaria i know that you meant well with what you're saying here pero hintayin nalang natin ang desisyon nang Supreme Court tungkol sa usaping eto, nasa kanila na yong petition that the UST people have filed so hintayin nalang natin, huwag na nating gagatungan na naman ang issue kasi baka sumiklab na naman kawawa ang nursing sa pilipinas na "piniproteksyonan" daw ng iilan diyan kaya sumabog to unprecedented proportion.Let's move on with our lives na and just let the courts do its job and make it's final decision on the matter! MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL! MABUHAY ANG LAHAT NG MGA DESERVING NA MGA NURSES SA BUONG PILIPINAS! PEACE AND GOODWILL TO ONE AND ALL!

Pwede ba... kung ala naman kayong bagong information na makakatulong at makakapagbigay liwanag sa present situation pwede hwag na magpalagay sa dyaryo.

May bago ba?... wala... period..

hopefully maganda ang maging desisyon ng SC about this... I pity the parents of this June 2006 passers. Mas doble ang sakit na nararamdaman nila ngayon...haaayy
