A student of the INRESS Review Center created the PowerPoint presentation detailing the leaked questions and answers of the 2006 Nursing Licensure Examinations last June, ABS-CBN's Bandila reported Tuesday night.

Bandila received a copy of the PowerPoint presentation from a group calling itself the Group of Concerned Registered Nurses.

The group said the presentation is direct evidence linking George Cordero, resigned president of the Philippine Nurses Association, to the leakage. Cordero is the owner of INRESS, the in-house review center of the Philippine College of Health Sciences (PCHS).

The group said the presentation was shown to more than 1,000 nursing students who attended a final review session in a Manila moviehouse two days before the board exams.

Dennis Bautista, a witness on the Senate inquiry on the leakage scandal, confirmed that the presentation was the one shown during the INRESS review session on June 8 and 9. Another nursing student identified only as "Jess" also confirmed Bautista's claim.

Sen. Rodolfo Biazon, member of the Senate committee investigating the leakage controversy, said the PowerPoint presentation will be used during the Senate hearing on Wednesday.

In a separate Bandila report, Cordero claimed that Bautista was bribed to link him to the leakage.

Cordero said Rey Gapuz, owner of Gapuz Review Center, is close to a member of the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) that is investigating the issue.

A PRC fact-finding panel report earlier revealed that Gapuz provided witnesses and documents proving Cordero's involvement in the leakage.

Press Secretary Ignacio Bunye on Tuesday reiterated President Arroyo’s decision against the retaking of the leakage-tainted nursing licensure examination.

A "retake is unnecessary and unfair, particularly for those who come from poor families that had worked hard for their young ones to enter this noble profession," he said.

Bunye said, however, the controversy involving members of the PRC nursing board should be a warning to those engaged in corrupt activities.

He said because of the irregularity committed by some "they destroy not only themselves but also their peers and the whole profession they aspire to be part of."

Dr. Dante Ang, chairman of the Commission on Filipinos Overseas, proposed a retest, which, he said, would remove the stigma of the leakage on the new board passers.

"The issue here is not whether these 17,821 nursing board passers really passed the exam or not or whether the nursing board cleared the test papers. The issue is the question of competence, as well as the trust and confidence in the Filipino nurses," Ang said in a radio interview. With a report from The Manila Times
