Retake the exam if you know your nursing

Retake the exam if you know your nursing

INQ7.net

IT SEEMS that the new nurses, and even those who topped the controversial licensure board exam in June, are afraid to retake the exam. If they really know their nursing, there is no reason they cannot hurdle the tests.

After all, the test questions are based on basic knowledge of nursing. The practicum is not even included. And the necessary information will not change overnight. So, an individual who studied and graduated from a nursing school and happened to pass the exam honestly has no reason to be anxious and be dreadful of the repeat exam.

Although I have been a nurse for 11 years, I am willing to relinquish my Philippine license as a registered nurse and take the exam with the new graduates. Modesty aside, I am not afraid to take exam. I know I can pass it because I know my nursing.

RUSSEL DE VERA, Johns Hopkins Hospital Baltimore, Maryland, USA (via e-mail)

FROM: http://opinion.inq7.net/inq7viewpoints/letters/view_article.php?article_id=25804

YOU CAN TALK THE TALK, BUT CAN YOU WALK THE WALK?

LEAVE JOHNS HOPKINS THEN...

COME HOME TO THE PHILIPPINES AND TAKE IT THEN...

UNTIL YOU ARE REGISTERED AS AN EXAMINEE THIS DECEMBER YOUR WORDS DON'T COUNT FOR MUCH...

What you are assuming, is that among the 42 thousand that flank the exam are dumb and those who passed did so because they cheated...i guess your right then, majority of the filipinos are either so dumb or cheater.....

I got your message LOUD & CLEAR Mr. De Vera. If only those opposing for a retake would concede and accept the truth that after all its still the integrity that matters most. Though I believed that not all of those who passed favors a "no retake". Their are those who still believed in the rightful way of acquiring a license "RN" without mockery and questionable results of their exam. What is worst, it became a battle between the flunkers and the passers of which the passers, as I may see is so agressive and doing all things just to deny the retake stand. Its so sad that these students supposed to be future nurses have these attitudes that do not reflect what have been imparted to them while they are still in school. I hope that sooner they will realize that its not their being "passed" that they have been deprived but as well those who have not made it and jeopardise their future too, which ironically comprises bigger number.

It's not their license are only at stake, but the whole nursing community is greatly affected. I believed that the government is now seriously, truthfully seeking for the right answers of all these problem that keep on haunting us until now. And I hope we keep our trust on them for I know they know what they are doing.

Let us not suppressed the truth to come out.

I respect your opinion mr. de vera for that is your right and you have a point. one comment here strucked me "that majority of filipinos are either so dumb or cheater" another comment here was that "if those opposing a retake would concede and accept the truth that after all its still the integrity that matters most" he has a point too. but what the "Honest" passers have always bn fighting is the fact that why should those innocent ones the so called "ULTIMATE SACRIFICE" of the deeds of the few? those passers arent sacrificial lambs...they are people working hard and sacrificing a lot of time just to reach their goal and that is to pass... i understand that 25 thousand plus examinees didn't make it and were infact "SHOULD" make it but prc have to treat the examination.. my stand here is that prc has given the authority to govern licensure examination and to c to it that the public is safe againts incompetent professionals... for this is my opinion so i may say that prc have indeed tried thier powers to lessen the leaked questions... and FOR EXAMPLE THERE SHOULD BE A RETAKE...wahat if in the next couple of years...leakage again will appear...should another innocent victims shall again agonize the same way as this batch are feeling right now? if some elite schools aren't satisfied of thier performance, would they not exploit the retaKE issue? mr. DE vera..even if will come here and retake as 500 times as u can... leakage and the nursing controversy here will always be around... we may erase the so called "stigma" if a retake shall puss through " BUT THAT WONT GUARANTEE THAT LEAKAGE SHALL END" and that is what those passers are fighting for...it's their being innocent and deserving to get the license here were deprived.. for those 25 thousand plus hu didn't made it.. some say retake is the solution but we want a "win-win" situation here right? so as what the PRC treated.. each examinee of the june2006 batch has the right to retake but in an optional way... and for me that's was a "win-win" situation... y in the hell will you pull everyone out for not all those were benefited of such leakage... so mr.De vera, i respect ur opinion... and before u will come here and shall took ur local x.am "AGAIN" to prove something...PLEASE GO TO THOSE PROVINCE LIKE CEBU, BACOLOD, DAVAO and all visayas and mindanao provinces and hear out those innocent and very poor families hus future depends on their sons/duaghters who passed the x.am fairly and now being deprive by some selfish institution... im a june 2006 passer (leakage nonbenefiter) and I WOULD LIKE FOR A RETAKE TO PUSH THROUGH...BUT STILL IM A HUMAN BEING... AND I JUST CANT SLEEP THINKING OF PUTTING THOSE INNOCENT PASSERS to INJUSTICE.. GO FOR RETAKE BUT SPARE THOSE INNOCENT ONES...

PROUD & ARROGANT!!!

come home Mr.De vera and take the exam again..you're so arrogant.bading.

Mr de Vera, this fight is now about JUSTICE. I guess your years of working in the US taught you nothing at all. Protection of INDIVIDUAL JUSTICE is what you have in the US & what we lack in the Philippines.

Good for you, you have an 11 year headstart of good foundation of experience that we are being denied here. You should top this board for if not, your worst than those who will fail the exams.

11 years & you have forgoten your roots already..

A true Filipino crab you are!

We'll wait for you if that day of injustice comes.

CBP

MR DE VERA, WE ARE WAITING FOR YOU.

DO WHAT YOU SAID YOU WOULD, RELINQUISH YOUR PHILIPPINE LICENSE (YOU DON'T NEED IT THERE NOW ANYWAY) AND RETAKE THE EXAMS. LET'S SEE YOU PASS IT.

YOU DON'T GET THE POINT THOUGH...

WE, THE PASSERS WHO PASSED WITHOUT CHEATING OR ANY LEAKAGE, ARE AGAINST A RETAKE BECAUSE WE ARE UNJUSTLY BEING PUNISHED FOR THE SINS OF A FEW GREEDY INDIVIDUALS.

DON'T YOU GET THE POINT?

IF NOT, THEN JUST COME HERE AND TAKE THE TEST, BRAGGART! LET'S SEE YOU ENJOY TAKING IT.

Mr. de vera,

kinakahiya ko ang mga pilipinong katulad mo. Isang mayabang at mapagmalaking tao.

you are not being modest, MAYABANG KA!

AMEN TO THAT, ICE CANDY! AMEN!

WELCOME BACK TO THE LAND OF TALANGKA WHERE YOU RIGHTFULLY BELONG, MR BRAGGART DE VERA!

TAKE THE TEST AS YOU BRAGGED YOU WOULD.

ENJOY!

natameme yata si Yabang de Vera...?

ano, de vera?! sagot! pakita ka na dito at mag-apply for the december board. we'd gladly call in the press for you para sumikat ka pa!

kunsabagay... siguro may delusions ka lang...

MR DE VERA
I CHALLENGE YOU TO COME HOME TO THE PHILIPPINES AND ENLIST YOURSELF AT PRC - THEN TAKE THE EXAMS ON DECEMBER.

BEING AT JOHN HOPKINS DOESNT MAKE YOU AN OUNCE BETTER THAN US WHO ARE STILL HERE AWAITING FOR OUR FATE AFTER THE JUNE 2006 NLE.

ACCEPT IT, NANANALAYTAY SA IYONG DUGO ANG PAGIGING SELFISH AT CRAB MENTALITY.

GOD IS GOOD. ONE DAY, OUR PATHS WILL CROSS & YOU WILL EAT YOUR OWN WORDS.......
