Manipulated nursing grades confirmed

The results of last June’s nursing licensure examinations were manipulated in such a way that flunkers were able to take their oath while some examinees who actually passed were required to take the examinations again, Labor Secretary Arturo Brion said yesterday.
"We are not yet ready to come up with the final report, but what I can generally tell is that we have found a lot of aberrations in the computations of grades of the examinees," he said.
The labor chief said they found out that some of the examinees were allowed to take their oath when they actually failed the examination, and that some scores were padded by as much as eight points.
"This is very disturbing," he said. "That is why we have been urging caution against oath taking of the examinees until this controversy has been resolved with finality."
On the other hand, "some of the examinees were included in the list of those who should retake the examination, when in the master list they passed all the subjects in the licensure examination."
Brion, whom President Arroyo tasked to look into allegations of leakage in the nursing examinations, said a special team from the Department of Labor and Employment is now reviewing the grades of the examinees based on the document submitted by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).
The PRC has submitted the master list of grades of the 41,000 examinees –those who were supposed to retake the exam and those who passed it, he added.
Brion said they hope to complete their investigation on Monday and make the appropriate action against those who will be found liable for altering the grades of the examinees.
He said they have asked for an explanation from PRC officials about the alleged aberration, but they failed to make a justification since they merely noted that those were the grades obtained by the complainants.
"This case is far from over but we are doing our best to deal with this problem," he said.
However, Brion said they respect the decision of the Court of Appeals (CA) allowing the oath taking of those who passed the nursing licensure board examination last June.
They will submit their findings to Malacañang and let the Court decide whether to revoke the licenses of those who failed but were allowed to take oath, he added.

Is it possible to ask mr. brion to just have a recheck of the paper of all the 42 thousand, since i it obvious that aberration is not limited to the group that supposed to have a retake....i dont think that only 42 percent passed the board exam....

HAVE THESE PEOPLE INVESTIGATING THESE ABERRATIONS TAKEN A LICENSURE EXAM IN THEIR LIFE?... JUST WANNA KNOW... COZ IF THEY HAD THEY KNOW THAT COMPUTATIONS ARE SUBJECTED TO MANIPULATION... NOT JUST THE NURSING BOARDS BUT THE CPA BOARDS AND OTHER BOARDS ALSO...
I MEAN THESE COMPUTATIONS AND MANIPULATIONS ARE DISCUSSED IN REVIEW CENTERS... HOW THE PRC COMES UP WITH THE GRADES... ITS NOT EVEN LIKE ITS ILLEGAL FOR THE PRC TO DO THIS... ITS INCLUDED IN THEIR MANDATE. PRC HAS ALWAYS HAD THIS DISCRETION... DO PEOPLE ACTUALLY THINK THAT THE BOARD RESULTS ARE ZERO BASED?... IF THAT WERE SO, THERE WOULD BE EVEN MORE CASUALTIES IN THE EXAMS ADMINISTERED BY THE PRC...
NOW, IF THESE MANIPULATIONS WERE NOT ACCEPTABLE THEN IT WON'T BE THE NLE OF 2006 THAT HAS A TAINTED SYSTEM BUT ALL PREVIOUS EXAMS OF ALL PROFESSIONS REGULATED BY THE PRC ARE IN QUESTION...
SO ARE THESE PEOPLE PUSHING FOR A RETAKE WILLING TO OPEN THAT PANDORA'S BOX AND SEE IT THROUGH? IF THEY REALLY ARE THESE OUTSTANDING PEOPLE THAT THEY SAY THEY ARE SHOULDN'T THEY FIGHT THIS THROUGH AND THROUGH... BECAUSE IF THEY JUST FOCUS ON THE JUNE 2006 NLE PASSERS... WELL, IT JUST SEEMS TOO CONVENIENT...

kaya nga we call it 'HYPOCRACY AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL'!!!
if they really think there's abberation in how PRC handled the computation of grades of BSN batch 2006, then they should also look at the previous licensure exams as well, in all 'profession'... that's what you call really cleaning up!
why single out BSN 2006 only????
MR. BRION, YOU'RE A CRAP & A CRAB... LIKE THE UP DEAN, TADLE, YANGOT, & DANTE ANG... ALL HYPOCRITES THAT'S WHAT YOU ARE !!!

IT TOOK THE CA TO CHECK THE GRADES AND COME UP WITH A DECISION WEEKS EVEN A MONTH, AND MR.BROIN AND HIS DOLE SEEM TO HAVE DONE THESE IN A COUPLE OF DAYS... EDI SANA DOLE NA ALNG HUMANDLE NG SASES SA CA KC MAS MABILIS AND MASEFFICIENT ATA SILA... MY QUESTION IS INSTEAD OF MINGLING WITH THIS ISSUE WHY NOT JUST DO HIS JOB TO PRODUCE MORE LABOR AND EMPLOYMENT IN THE PHILIPPINES

I am one of the retakers..
I sincerely know that I did not cheat..
I already accepted that I originally failed the NLE..
I already admitted that my celebration after the results were released were to no avail..
It's emotionally and intellectually disturbing!!
Very nerve wracking!!
We are all nursees now..
Kung nu'ng students pa siguro tayo, pwede tayong mag compete sa isa't isa, pwede nating sabihing, "taga - feu kami, taga-ust,taga-st.paul,or taga baguio ako".. Pero iba na ngayon.. Di ba pwedeng i-uplift nalang natin yung nursing profession??
tayo tayo naghihilaan..
Goodluck naman..

I am so sad sa mga nangyayari and then sa mga naging decisions ng court, BON, NBI lahat...
I cant also imagine why tuloy pa rin sa business sina GAPUZ, Pentagon at Inress. Hindi pwedeng porke mayaman sila dahil sa mga tuition ng nurses eh, pwede na sila kumawala. It was all for greed of money!!!
